Janko Kráľ Park

Park on the Petržalka side of Danube was built by Maria Theresa in 1774-1776. There grows many exotic plants and trees such as ginkgo tree, dawn redwood, maklura orange and giant sycamores, which are around 200 years old and its trunk circumference is about 500-600 cm.
There was a big flood in 1809. Park was quickly recovered after this disaster.
In the park is from 2000 located base stone of the monument of Slovak emigration and Slovak emigrants.
Other attractions that complete the atmosphere of the park are zodiac signs. Each sign has its own reserved space with several benches.
Part of the park is a large fountain that is in summer very refreshing. This fountain is officially called Drinking doves.
The most important building in Janko Kráľ park is a historical gazebo. It is not actually a gazebo, but the Gothic tower of the Franciscan church, which was in the park placed after earthquake in 19th century.
Janko Kráľ Park is a nice place in Petržalka where everyone can relax, breathe fresh air, play sports, take a picnic with friends or let their little children have fun on the playground.
